Word of mouth and Product testing

Word of mouth advertising

This isn't quite product testing but I've included Word of mouth advertising here.  Basically you sign up on the relevent websites (I have listed a few below).  You get surveys through to decide who is most suitable for each campaign.  If selected you will recieve the products or vouchers in the post.

Then your are expected to talk about the product, review it , facebook and tweet, blog about it if you have one.  Generally you get rewards for doing it in terms of points which are taken into account when choosing participants in future campaigns.  You can also get rewarded with clubcard points too.  You then get to keep the product at the end.

I have personally done this on quite a few occasions.  It is quite hard work but is fun to be part of a campaign. You sometimes get vouchers to hand out to family and friends too which is an added bonus.  I persuaded some of my colleagues to join up too and it's a great talking point.

Here are some links to the ones that I use most frequently but a quick internet search will reveal quite a few others.  Watch out though as there are quite a few that are not legit and sites that spam you so double check each one prior to signing up.

Product testing

I really enjoy product testing, you sign up and fill in the obligatory questionnaires.  If you are thought to be suitable generally you are sent a quick survey to fill or by email (although this does vary)

If you are selected the products arrive in the post, in the past I have tested one product, or compared two.  Usually the products are only identified by a reference  so you don't know the exact product.  It varies by company but there is always at least one product review survey to complete sometimes 2 or more.  I find them generally quick and easy to complete for the testing companies I use and well written.

You usually get to keep the product but sometimes have to send back the packaging.  Sometimes you get a thank you gift voucher too which is always nice.  I find the products are extremely high quality premium products so are a real treat in themselves.
